About our winery:

When Don and Rhonda Carano discovered Lazy Creek Vineyards, their first thought was, "What a magical place!" The quiet simplicity and charm reminded them of when they first started in the wine business over 30 years ago as grape growers on a small ranch in Alexander Valley, and where they established Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery in Sonoma County a few years later.Don and Rhonda purchased the 95-acre Lazy Creek ranch in 2008. Planted to roughly 40 acres of grapes including Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, and Chardonnay, it was love at first sight for Don and Rhonda. Their true passion and heart has always been, first and foremost, in land and all that it brings. Lazy Creek - the vineyards, the farm, the animals, the gardens, the special Heritage roses - truly represents a personal journey for them.Don and Rhonda honor the philosophy and tradition of producing the Alsatian-European style of wines that Lazy Creek enthusiasts have come to enjoy. "We truly believe that great wines begin in the vineyards, and we feel honored to carry on the tradition of superbly-crafted, artisan wines established by those before us at Lazy Creek," says Don Carano. Also believing whole-heartedly in allowing the vineyards to express themselves are Winemakers Christy Ackerman and Sarah Quider.

Three things to love about us:

Lazy Creek Vineyards - Tasting Room Now OpenWe are pleased to announce that Lazy Creek Vineyards’ tasting room in Anderson Valley is now open, as a year-and-a-half-long winery remodeling project is finally complete. Tasting Room hours are Thursday through Monday, 10:30 am – 4:30 pm.Replacing the aging wine fermentation area, the new winery building was designed in several smaller interconnected structures to keep the scale of the new and existing buildings consistent. The new winery building and tasting room are adjacent to the 760-barrel underground cave that was completed in 2011. In keeping with LCV’s quaint surroundings, the new tasting room preserves its charm and simplicity with stunning views of Lazy Creek's vineyards for your enjoyment.Lazy Creek Vineyards Family Wine ClubJoining our Lazy Creek Vineyards Family Wine Club couldn’t be easier, and enrollment is free! As a wine club member, you will be the first to taste new releases and special wines that are not generally available to the public! Members receive automatic shipments personally selected by Don and Rhonda Carano, invitations to LCV events and other winery happenings, tasting for four on your winery visits, and special pricing on wines.

What makes us unique:

Lazy Creek VineyardsNamed for the meandering creek that runs through the 95-acre ranch, Lazy Creek Vineyards is located a few miles west of Philo in Anderson Valley. A pleasant detour off Highway 128, LCV's narrow, dirt road overgrown with rambling bushes and ferns, towering redwoods and oak trees, opens onto a bucolic setting complete with the new winery building and tasting room, rustic barn, cottages with its menagerie of animals, gardens, fruit trees and vineyards -- all welcoming visitors to this truly magical place. One of the oldest wineries in the valley, Lazy Creek is committed to sustainable growing practices and the small scale production of acclaimed Pinot Noir.Lazy Creek Vineyards Winery was recently awarded a sustainable certification by the Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA). Lazy Creek’s entire ranch has been sustainably farmed since its beginnings more than 40 years ago and the environment that surrounds them. Don and Rhonda Carano are firm believers in preserving the land for future generations and have made the commitment to continue sustainable farming at Lazy Creek, from vineyard to bottle. The recent expansion into our new winery production facility provided the perfect opportunity to implement new goals for sustainability and update existing ones in order to achieve this certification.Don and Rhonda Carano have always believed in letting the land speak for itself through as little intervention as possible to create the most natural conditions necessary in producing wines that are truly born from the Earth.
