Celebrate Mother's Day with 5 Rosé Wines Mom is Sure To Love

A WhichWinery Exclusive

Mother's Day is almost here and if you're wondering what will make her day extra special, you've come to the right place. The key to Mom's heart is one happy word away: rosé! Typically carrying a soft bouquet of floral and summer fruits followed by crisp flavor notes of red berries, citrus and a refreshing finish, these wines embody Galileo Galilei’s philosophy that ‘Wine is sunlight, held together by water.' See? Now you even have a quote to impress Mom on her big day...she'll be so proud of you she might even share her rosé! But hey, we're not making any promises.

If you're wondering just which rosés she's sure to love, we've compiled a list of our favorites below. That's right. We did the hard work for you. Now all that's left to do...is drink!

This Mother's Day, pour your glasses and raise them high in celebrations of Moms everywhere - thanks Mom!

1. JCB N°5 Côtes de Provence, 2015 - Boisset Collection, (Yountville, California, USA)

Adding to the incredible wine list that Jean-Charles Boisset has created is this elegant Rose, JCB N°5 Rose, named in honor of JCB’s sister Nathalie's favorite number and her favorite region to visit in Provence. The color is a beautiful pink rose with delicate scents of red berries, citrus and spicy white blossoms on the nose. Upon sipping, its soft and delectable on the palate with floral notes and flavors of white fruit, with a harmonious balance and fresh finish.

2. Gerard Bertrand, Cote des Roses, 2016

Floral notes of rose dance on your palate along with hints of grapefruit, creating a fresh and full impression with great aromatic balance. The finish is fresh, offering notes of sweet candy to savor long after your sip.

3. Mulderbosch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé, 2016

The Mulderbosch Rosé was one of the very first of its kind from South Africa. At a time when most Rosés were simpy a byproduct of red wine fermentation, Mulderbosch launched a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé issued from specially farmed vineyards, with the specific intention to produce Rosé fruit. Upon arrival at the cellar, these early picked, specially selected grapes were vinified in the same manner in which an aromatic white wine would be, with the aim of producing a fresh, aromatic style of Rosé. A very fruit forward Rosé, it offers hints of strawberry, tangerine and apricot to savor sip upon sip.

4. Chateau, D’Esclans, Whispering Angel (Provence, France), 2016

The grapes are grown from some of the most exceptional lands in the surrounding region of La Motte en Provence, consisting primarily of Grenache, Rolle (Vermintino) and Cinsault. The wine was actually inspired by the two cherubs in the 19th century Whispering Angel chapel found on the grounds of Caves D’Esclans. Whispering Angel is a blend of Grenache, Rolle, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvedre grapes. It’s a delicate and beautiful Rosé with a pale pink in color, with light fresh and floral aromas. On the palate, it has a creamy feel with notes of white peach, mango and white cherry with a subtle mineral edge creating a refreshing finish.

5. Wolffer Estate Rose, 2016

Light copper-salmon in color, with a twist of the wrist this delicate Rosé is poured in your glass, where fresh floral and flinty aromas tempt your nose. The mouth-feel is fresh and vibrant, filled with fresh fruit notes of peach and apricots with lively acidity and well balanced, satisfying fruit. The finish is dry with subtle, fine tannins and minerality, making it both food-friendly and versatile.
